Cutting & Adding

Image
Good afternoon everyone! How are you all doing today! Look at me doing a blog early afternoon not evening. So today I am going to talk about editing. Now if you all remember when I was doing my last project I was learning how to edit but there is a big difference to this project. I am now not making a video with photos but with recordings of scenes I film. I did about 12 scenes and they are each 10-30 seconds long. The time limit is 1 minute 15 seconds so do the math and see that some need to be shorten. I looked at all the scenes put them in order and then played them. I was over a minute over so I had to carefully choose which scenes to shorten. The longest scenes were the car scenes and those are main scenes. Cutting parts was not easy. I wished the video didn't have a limit because you guys may missed some parts I loved. However, the music video is still coming out amazing. When I was cutting parts I took turns with scenes. I did one scene at a time and figured out which one i

Early Saturday is not for the weak

Image
Good evening everyone! I'm back! I miss you all. It has felt like it has been a long time. Soooooo... today I am going to be talking about filming my music video. The day I choose to film was on a Saturday at 8:30am. My group and I are all busy. It was decided that Saturday was the best day. We all know early mornings are not for the week. I was the main lead so I instructing what to film, what angle, time. I film in soo many places around our location. That morning is was really humid. I had straighten my hair and it was going really puffy during filming. As you all can see in the music video. I was tired since it was soo early and my group mates as well. However, by starting filming that early there was very little people. Meaning I had more privacy and space to film. For example, when I filmed the car scenes it was soo early there was not many cars but later on after filming other scenes there was a lot of cars in the parking lot. I film in a restaurant as well so when we did i

The Role I Had

Image
Good evening everyone! How are you all tonight? You excited about the reveal coming soon? So I am going to talk about the role in filming and what I did. So I was the main lead in my music video. However, I also helped film/direct and decide locations. When we were recording for car scenes I would prep a camera in the car so both the male lead and I could be seen in a proper angle for the scene. After every take I would look at the recording of the take. The I would decide if any shot should be retaken (due to angle or other issues) or if it was good to go. We had a couple of retakes on some scenes. Overall, my team and I did pretty good on the first couple takes of the scene shots. I also choose the location of the scenes we wanted to take. So when we got there on filming locations... I pretty much choose the angle working with lighting. The types of shots I had planned out before filming were filmed. I also added some or changed during filming to fit best with my music. An example i

Props for my Music Video

Good evening everyone! How are you guys? Did you miss me? Well today I am going to talk about my music video props. So as you may not know you girl aka me is the main lead in the music video. So I got to pick the majority of the props that we used.  For most of the scenes recorded we needed a change in costumes (clothing) so they go with the props. I used a cake at the end of the music video to show the support of my friends at the end. That prop was little hard to get how I wanted it. I sent one of my friends to go to Publix (grocery store) to get a small cake with the writing Heartbreak Anniversary on it. However, the baker lady said that she couldn't do that. Which I don't believe because they have done it before for a cake of mine. So I got red frosting piping bag to try to do a broken heart. The sad part is the frosting melted so the cake was not super pretty. Hopefully my editing skills is able to fix it if not I will see what I can do. Anyway, we also used props such as

Location Selection Process

Image
Good evening everyone! It feels like its been a while. How are you guys? Have you guys missed me/ Excited to see my music video? Well, today I will be talking about our location selection process.   My team is all magnet students from my school, we don't live close to the school. So I had to find a place were is a midpoint for everyone. I started with what scenes I was filming and what place would be great and have a variety of spots to film. I didn't want to travel from one place to another because not only is it exhausting but also time consuming. I had found many shopping malls, plazas and park. However the one that stand out was the tower shops plaza and I was like, this is a great place to film. Not only is it midpoint for everyone but it has a variety of places we can film. I told my group-mates and it was decided. I choose to film scenes in the parking lot of the plaza, at 3 restaurants at the plaza and inside cars. The plaza is also big and open since early in the morni

Storyboard for my Music Video

Image
Good evening everyone! How are you guys?   Today is about the storyboard for a music video that me and my group picked out. In total we used a total of 12 slides in our storyboard as it was mandatory. We also made sure that the scenes would not take too long as there was a time limit of 1 minute, 15 seconds. We also decide that we would cut out some music parts so that it could reach the time limit. Well, that's enough explaining here's my storyboard.  Box 1 (Scene 1)  It is scene inside a car where it is decorated with valentine decorations and the girl is popping a balloon that her ex gave her. Box 2  (Scene 2)  In scene 2, it is a flashback of when it was Valentine's Day, and the car was not decorated. It also shows that the girls' boyfriend gave her a hoodie as a gift for valentines.   Box 3  (Scene 3)  In scene 3, it goes back in the present and it shows a fight between the girl and her boyfriend which led to them breaking up and the girl throwing the hoodie that h

Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
Hey everyone! How are you all?   have to admit, making a music video is a whole new experince for me, and I'm kind of clueless about it. However, I am soo ready for it!  So a few days back, me and my awesome team decided to do some homework. We watched a bunch of music videos for this course. And let me be the first to tell you, it was quite entertaining.  We also checked out some music videos in the contemporary R&B genre, which is the vibe of the song we've chosen. These videos are the ones I will be telling you all about.  Now, let me break it down for you: Contemporary R&B is like a musical smoothie that blends rhythm and blues with a dash of pop, a sprinkle of soul, a pinch of funk, a scoop of hip hop, and just a hint of electronic vibes. It's got this chill and soulful groove with some seriously cool vocal arrangements. Now, when it comes to music videos in this genre, they've got their own conventions or set of rules, you know what I mean?  1.  Song: Hear

My Group for the Music Video!

Image
Hey everyone! How are you guys? Great to write to you all again. Today I am gonna talk about my group mates and our song choice for the music video. For my group we are four of us total. We have Abimbola Otusanya, Giovannia Andrews, Shabriana Chevelon and me (Mariajose Martinez Lopez). I chose to work with them because they all have amazing work ethic. They complete their assignments and get good grades. They are all every reliable and intelligent. I am very happy they also decided to pair up with me. We all have varying perspectives on many things so it makes the planning, thinking process be more expand and more creativity. We all have different strength and weaknesses that compliment each other. 3 of us are seniors and 1 is a sophomore, so we are all excited to be working alongside each other.  The song that we have chosen...which took us a while to choose. Hahahaha! Is Heartbreak Anniversary by Giveon. We wanted our genre to by R&B and we wanted it to be a break up song. It to

Introduction to the Music Video

Image
Hey everyone! How are you all? My name is Mariajose Martinez Lopez, and I'm 17 years old.  Prior to my 2013 move to the United States, I spent the first 6-7 years of my life in La Ceiba, Honduras, where I was born and raised.  My younger brother is 13 and my younger sister is 7, and I am the oldest of the three children. Of course, I live with my parents and my siblings! Living in the United States and Honduras are undoubtedly very different from one another. People are always at work, there are much more crowded cities, and kids spend all of their free time hanging out with their friends when they're not in school. Family dinners are less prevalent, while travel is more common. Traveling with my family is something I enjoy doing. We've been to Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and passed through Virginia, among other places. My favorite excursions were to Disney World/Island of Adventures and visiting an underground water fall (Ruby Falls) as well as trekking and visiting anot
