Props for filming

Image
Hey everyone! Good evening! How are you all? Last blog before I take a little break. Will you guys miss me? To be honest guys, we are getting closer and closer to you all seeing the final film. I hope you guys are as excited as me. Hahahaha! I'm super impatient so I am counting the days. Let's talk about props today. I'll start with what we used to film. My group and I agreed on the day of filming to utilize the greatest phone on set because everyone had an iPhone. We knew that iPhones had a decent reputation for photography quality, so it didn't seem like a big deal. Despite having the most recent version, one of our group-mates' phone was wearing a camera lens protector that had split into several pieces, making the back camera appear odd. With that, her phone was instantly dismissed. So we went with my phone since I own a iPhone 13. I have to admit that filming on these phones is quite practical; they are the only devices my group and I have...

The fun part

Hey everyone! Good afternoon! How are you all? So today I won't bore you guys with the technical aspect. Even though I hope I have never bored you guys. hahahaha! For this project my group consisted of 4 people: Gio, Abi, Adriana, and I. Giovannia, Abimbola and I have worked on projects together before but it was our first time working with Adrianna. As stated a couple blogs ago, she has media class in a different period so we create a group chat to be able to communicate. I think the funnest part of having our group was brainstorming the ideas for our short film. We all looked at different genres and then decided which one we all liked more which was horror mystery. I love seeing new perspective to expand my knowledge and understanding of people. With our group of 4 very different people it was a refreshment to my brain. I'm sorry. That sounds so weird. Hahahahaha! Anyway, we are all also friends. So we were happy that we got to hang out and spend time with each other. Our he...

Making Murder Mystery.

Image
Hey everyone! Good evening! How are you all? Ready for some more talk about editing. Now I talked last blog about the scene cutting and putting all together. It being 10+ scenes was what was crazy. hahahaha! Today I am going more into the aspect to make it our title murder mystery. Editing the ambiance of the scenes, if needed black and white. Or lower the lighting down so it gives off the mysterious effect. For this  I had to do some research of short mystery films. I wanted to explore many options to inspire what I was going to do with mine. After all the researching I tried all options that I learned about on my short film. Then I started seeing hmm which one fitted or not. What was I going for? A question that I kept asking myself, till I made it how I pictured it. I moved around effects for the scenes. The whole point of editing is to make the short film come together and make people feel and understanding what I am my group and I are trying to express. There were some scenes ...

OMG so many scenes

Good afternoon everyone! I’m back! How are you all? Sooo today I am going to talk to you guys a little bit about the editing. As shown in our story board we had over 10+ scenes to film. Which is a lot of scenes. hahahaha We as well have a limit to how long our short film has to be. Which is not a lot of time. It’s only the intro scene. As many know I have done my research in editing before to have the best short film as possible. I use the app CapCut to do all my editing.  Since I’ve used it before I was more familiar to it this time. Now, that does not mean that adding all the scenes to come together was easy… it was not. Some scenes we took a couple times so I also had to rewatch and see which one I should use. Once I put them all in order, I did the cutting of time. Figuring out which scene I could cut a little or not. Since my group and I knew our time limit, we make sure our scenes would fit without the need of a lot of cutting out. I will still always say that eating is...

From a newbie to now

Good morning everyone! I know super shocking I am writing in the morning. I had some extra time before class. How are you guys? Missed Me?! Hahahahaha So as some of you this is my second project that has to do with filming and editing. I have definitely improved a lot on all aspects. I remember watching video tutorials online about how to film properly, find the best lightning and editing. For this short film that I did with my group we all were more prepare in knowledge for it. We knew how to transition between scenes, record more effortlessly. Make it seem real. You know what I mean? Like film the scenes showing that raw emotion needed for the film especially it being a murder mystery. I can definitely said my group and I have improved from our newbie days...hahahaha. I am super excited for you guys to see our short film. Last project it was almost half a day of filming due to having to do many retakes. This time it was less than 3 hours. Our schedules were also tight that day s...

Filming time scheduling is not for the weak.

Good evening everyone! I'm back! How are you all? I miss y'all. It has felt like it has been a long time. Soooooo... today I am going to be talking about filming my music video. The day I choose to film was on a Tuesday at 5:00pm. My group and I are all busy. It was decided that Tuesday was the best day. We all know high school seniors work or have sports, so that was the only day in the entire month our schedules aligned. I was the one of the main friend character so I was instructing what to film, what angle, time. I film in many places around our location. That evening we were on a tight schedule. We got out of our extracurriculars and immediately met at our filming location. We didn't even have anything to eat. I was tired since it a heavy late night sleep week and my group mates as well. However, by doing filming at our location there was only us a couple people around here and there. Meaning I had more privacy and space to film. For example when we were filming in t...

The Role I Had

Image
Good evening everyone! Welcome back! How are you all tonight? You excited about the reveal coming soon? So I am going to talk about the role in filming and what I did. My movie is a murder mystery. So I was on of the friends. However, I also helped film/direct and decide locations. When we were recording for scenes I would prep the person to film on how to move the camera so there could be a proper angle for the scene. After every take I would look at the recording of the take. The I would decide if any shot should be retaken (due to angle or other issues) or if it was good to go. We had a couple of retakes on some scenes. Overall, my team and I did pretty good on the first couple takes of the scene shots. I also choose the location of the scenes we wanted to take. So when we got there on filming locations... I pretty much choose the angle working with lighting. The types of shots I had planned out before filming were filmed. I also added some or changed during filming to fit bes...

How the process began!

Hey everyone! How are you all? Today I am gonna talk a little more about the short film my group and I filmed. It is not completely finished yet. The editing of the short film still needs to be done. However I want to tell you guys about the film and how it came all together. When my group and I first discussed our script, we knew we wanted to go with horror, but not exactly what way into it. We had done a script of a more action and less talking I guess you could say. But our time started running out on our script, and we got to work on how to modify it.  We knew we wanted our characters to be a group of four close friends hanging out, so we had to find a way on how to include a mystery aspect into it. I was the one of the four close friends. Once we assigned our roles, filming was up next.     The next phase would be determining where and when to film. Choosing where was easy, but deciding when was a bit more challenging.  This wou...
